Little-known
Acklins Island and Crooked Island lie next to each other. The
Ferry will provided your transportation to and from. The ultimate
"OUT ISLANDS" provide an escape from the hustle and
bustle second to none.
The
beaches are adorned with BEAUTIFUL AQUA waters. The water is pure
and teaming with life. Tarpon and Bonefish are plentyful and LARGE.
For divers, a 50-mile barrier reef encircles the islands.
Crooked
Island is the mother island, with most of the inhabitants living
in and around the capital, Colonel Hill. Experienced birdwatchers
also know that the undisturbed wooded areas are a popular resting
place for numerous species, including the ever-present hummingbird.
Acklins
and Crooked Island are two of the four islands forming an atoll
which hugs the beautiful shallow waters of the Bight of Acklins.
Bordered by the nearly uninhabited Castle Island and Long Cay,
they are as natural as they were when The Bahamas was first discovered.
