As the fishing capital of the Bahamas, Bimini's docks have seen the likes of; World Record Marlin, Sailfish, giant Tuna, Swordfish, Wahoo, Dolphin and Bonefish. Bimini plays host to more than a dozen Billfish & Bonefish tournaments. The tournament season runs from March through September.     There are over 150 slips for the incoming fishing vessels. Many of these slips are filled with weekend travelers making the hop over from South Florida.     Bimini also has a beautiful beach, just take a ride down Queen's Highway on the western side of North Bimini and you'll understand that fishing is not the only spectator sport on the Bimini Islands.     Bimini is also known for excellent diving adventures. the Bimini Barge wreck can be descended upon @ 90 feet below the surface of crystal clear water. History of Bimini

Bimini was settled in the early part of the 20th Century (1920's). Due to its proximity to the U.S., Bimini served as a base of operations for rumrunners from South Florida and Nassau. Once prohibition was instituted in the U.S., Bimini became more than a sleepy island town 53 miles off the coast of Florida. Ernest Hemingway made the island famous through his fishing expiditions and alure of the unknown.
